I have a backward compatible PS3 that I value greatly. For the last several months, the fan would kick in after about 15 minutes and run full force for the rest of my session. The system never actually overheated but I still worried. I knew about the thermal paste issue but wasn’t entirely comfortable taking the unit apart myself. I am fortunate enough to live within a reasonable driving distance from their location and so I was able to drop the unit off in person. I was expecting to come back in a few days or even weeks and would have been okay with that. Instead I was told it would be ready in a couple of hours! I took my son to one of my favorite record stores nearby and then to lunch. Before we finished lunch, my PS3 was ready. I’ve played a lot over the last couple of weeks since it was done and the heat sink and fan perform close to new. The unit stays cooler and quieter. I couldn’t ask for better service. I needed the clock battery in my GameCube replaced so I decided to give retro direct a chance. I’m so glad I did because they did an excellent job; the clock battery works perfectly now.
